Leviticus 19:2 - "Speak to all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say to them: "You shall be holy, for I the LORD your God am holy.”

This chapter is often titled "Israel Reaps the Whirlwind". The Lord shows us what happens when we reject Him and take His mercy, love, and patience for granted. We can have the Lord or we can have sin, but we can't have both.

Chapter 7 of Hosea speaks to the depths of the sins of Israel and is a prophesy of their coming fall. It talks about how the leaders legalized sin and how the nation acquiesced to it. It also speaks to the pride of Israel and their self-reliance and rejection of the Lord. Many of the themes in this chapter are quite familiar to what we are facing today. They serve as a warning of the outcome if we do not heed and return to the Lord.

Hosea 6 is often titled, "A Call to Repentance". In this Chapter, the Lord speaks through the prophet Hosea to call the people of Israel and Judah to return to the Lord and repent. Through these verses He speaks of what He would do to heal His people but laments over their unfaithfulness and lack of reciprocation of love.

The previous chapter of Hosea is typically called "The Charge Against Israel" and Chapter 5 is typically titled "Judgement Against Israel". It continues from the themes of Chapter 4 in which the Lord rebukes the people of Israel for their continued sin and rejection of Him.

Hosea Chapter 4 shows us that although the Lord is abundant of love and mercy, this does not give us a free pass to continue in our sins. This chapter shows us how we can be lead astray and away from the Lord. We must learn from the Israelites so that we do not fall down their same path.

Chapter 3 of Hosea provides an illustration of the reckless love of God for His people and the price He is willing to pay to redeem us. It shows us the steps to building a relationship of love and how such a relationship should look.

The Book of Hosea - Chapter 2. The Lord is giving His message to the prophet Hosea to speak to the people of Israel concerning their spiritual adultery and prostitution against the Lord. He rebukes them, calls them to repent, outlines their punishment upon refusal, identifies the path of reconciliation.
